Origins
Beth Yeshua International in Macon, Georgia, opened its doors on May 22, 2010. It is home to the local Macon congregation and oversees our international locations.
Rabbi Greg Hershberg received a mandate from God: "Build it, and I will go." He consulted God about every aspect of this project. The location, construction, elements, landscaping, and everything else were bathed in prayer and fasting. The people of Congregation Beth Yeshua (CBY) came together with a "work mindset." Local congregants built the sanctuary elements (Ark of the Covenant, menorahs, furnishings of the Holy Place). Although Rabbi Hershberg had access to professionals, God told him to use the people within his own community.
The beautiful landscaping with native Israeli plants and trees was planned by one of the congregants, and the Beth Yeshua body worked together to plant it.
In the sanctuary, you are literally "walking on the Word." Congregants were asked to consult God for scriptures, and these scriptures were written in the concrete before the carpet was laid. One congregant wrote a scripture at the foot of the steps leading to the booth where the service is broadcast live. It was Matthew 28:19-20. At that time, only God knew Beth Yeshua's plan to go international.
Beth Yeshua is truly our "little piece of Israel" in Macon, Georgia.
